A Message from the Head of Department

Nursing is a profession which is greatly needed by the society both in Turkey and around the world, has many opportunities for employment in a wide range of fields, and yet has insufficient number of members. Nurses are health professionals that form a basis for healthcare based on the scientific knowledge required by each field of health, and it seems that the demand for nurses as health professionals will not be fully met for many years. The Department of Nursing aims to educate nurses who detect any healthcare needs of the community, families, and healthy, unhealthy or disabled individuals, as well as plan, meet, and keep track of these needs; actively take part in practising any preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative health services; and collaborate with other healthcare personnel. The education of nursing given for these purposes is based on solving scientific problems, continuous research, and learning in accordance with the international standards, and national laws, regulations, and needs. Students of the Department will graduate as healthcare personnel who consider individuals as a whole identity with its biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects in solving both existing and potential problems as well as producing solutions by using the scientific method to solve problems. Besides, they will make a great contribution to enhancing the quality of healthcare by pursuing Master’s and PhD degrees to improve themselves professionally and scientifically.

Graduates of the Department of Nursing can work in any public or private health institution including any public or private institution employing nurses (as occupational health nurses, in infirmaries, etc.).
