Faculty Overview

Healthcare industry in Turkey has developed substantially in parallel with some factors such as continuous economic growth and the increased purchasing power as a result of increased income, and with the recent supporting developments relating to healthcare industry. Similarly, the number of hospitals has increased over the past ten years in parallel with the increase in the health expenditures. While the number of public hospitals governed by the Turkish Ministry of Health has not changed significantly, the number of private hospitals in particular has grown.

As a result of these changes, Turkey needs health managers with leadership qualities who can keep up with the current developments in the healthcare industry and offer solutions for the possible problems in this industry. These managers can be employed by a wide range of organisations from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Work, to private hospitals, private health insurance companies, medical equipment and materials manufacturers, and pharmaceutical companies.

The Department of Health Management aims to educate future professional health managers who produce realistic policies in financing and providing our country’s health services, adopt and internalise the modern and universal values, follow the health systems and policies closely, and contribute to maintenance, improvement and development of our citizens’ health statuses.
